
The reductionistic approach of western medicine is to isolate causative factors contributory to the onset of the disorder. The disorder is then given a name such as in the case of ADD/ADHD. Whereas this is of merit scientifically, individuals make react similarly on a gross level but quite differently on a subtle level. To 'name' a group of symptoms is to provide a classification for mere convenience. This is a model in which a patient fits a mold instead of the practitioner treating the individual.

Since no two individuals present exactly the same, homeopathic analysis assists the practitioner in determining which remedy is most specific to the individual. An example of this would be homeopathic treatment of migraines in which one individual may feel better when outside and another individual may feel better inside. Traditional medicine would prescribe a single medication for both migraine sufferers; the homeopathic approach is to give each individual a different and specific remedy based on how they present their individual and unique symptoms.
